Understanding Henry County Releases
A person is released from Henry County custody when the Henry County Correctional Facility records an end to that custody episode. That does not always mean the person walked into the community. Bond, a court order, time served, probation, and sentence completion can lead to community release. A transfer can move the person to the Tennessee Department of Correction, another county, federal custody, or an immigration authority. The jail record must be read for both the release code and the destination.
Henry County has no official public jail roster or recent-release feed. A missing web result is therefore weak evidence. The useful records sit with the jail, the court clerk, TDOC, or the receiving federal agency. Each source answers a different question. The jail says when physical custody ended. The court file explains the legal authority. TDOC FOIL shows a current or former state felony status. TN SAVIN reports certain custody events and can send alerts.

Henry County Release Types
The reason for a Henry County release determines what to check next. A bond can end jail custody while the criminal case stays open. A transfer ends the county's physical control but begins or continues custody elsewhere. Parole and probation place a person in the community under rules, while an inactive TDOC status signals that active state custody or supervision has ended without explaining every detail by itself.

The words “released to” matter. If that field names an agency or institution, the event is not proof of freedom in the community. Ask about any detainer or hold as well. One case can end while another authority still has lawful custody.
Henry County Release Record Fields
The most useful county document is the existing booking-and-release or jail-management-system record for one identified custody episode. A focused request avoids asking staff to create a new report. Full name, date of birth if known, approximate booking date, booking number, arresting agency, and case number help separate people with similar names.

A booking photo may be requested with the same record, if it exists and is public. The photo identifies a booking; it does not prove guilt or show present custody. Juvenile rules, expungement, sealing, court orders, and confidentiality exceptions can limit what the custodian releases.
Request Henry County Release Records
Henry County uses a general Public Records Request Form. Address a jail-release request to the Henry County Sheriff's Office or Correctional Facility. The form asks whether the requester is a Tennessee citizen and may require proof. It distinguishes inspection from copies, allows electronic delivery, and lets the requester ask for a cost estimate. No fixed sheriff copy rate, guaranteed completion time, or retention term was found.

- If access is denied, request the written legal basis and ask whether a redacted record can be provided.
Under Tenn. Code Ann. § 10-7-503, when a record cannot be produced promptly, the custodian generally has seven business days to make it available, deny the request in writing, or give a written estimate of the time reasonably required. This is a response rule, not a promise that copies arrive within seven days. Inspection may not be charged under the county form, while copies can carry reasonable costs under the applicable rules.

Expungement is a later change in record status, not another word for release. Tenn. Code Ann. § 40-32-101 controls eligibility and conditions. A record that vanishes from a search may also reflect spelling, indexing, a sealed matter, or the wrong jurisdiction, so the absence alone proves little.
Henry County Bond Release Proof
Bond release does not finish a criminal case. Henry County's linked trial-court website was parked and unusable during the research. For that reason, two records carry special weight: the actual jail release timestamp and the Circuit or General Sessions court's bond order and docket. Use the official Henry County phone directory to confirm the jail and clerk numbers before making those calls.
A signed order can precede the time a person clears jail processing. The jail timestamp shows physical departure, while the bond order shows why release was authorized and what remains pending. The statewide appellate Public Case History does not replace the local trial file.
Henry County Facility History
The official sheriff page says the facility opened in March 2001 with 172 beds. An addition built with inmate labor added 32 beds in 2008, bringing rated capacity to 204. This history matters when an older record describes the building or its capacity differently.
The building chronology does not reveal a release date or destination. It adds context to older Henry County custody records, which may describe the facility before the expansion or use a different capacity figure.

TDOC's January 2025 jail report gives a sourced one-day look at the Henry County facility. The figures describe who was housed on the reporting date, not who had been released that month or year.
The January 2025 TDOC jail summary included 60 TDOC backup and 59 pretrial entries. These are facility and one-day population facts. They are not annual release counts, a current headcount, or an average length of stay.
Find Henry County Released Inmates
The full Henry County released inmate search changes with custody type. Start with the county record when the person was last at the jail. Use FOIL only when state felony custody or supervision is plausible. Federal and immigration cases require their own systems. This sequence reduces false matches with Henry County, Georgia, Henry County, Missouri, and people who share a name.
- Confirm the actual facility, state, full name, date of birth, approximate booking date, and arresting agency.
- Call the Henry County jail and ask whether the person remains there. If not, ask whether the record says release or transfer, plus the time and destination.
- Search Tennessee in TN SAVIN or VINELink. Read the reporting agency and event exactly, since a transfer is not community release.
- Request the county booking-and-release record for lasting proof of the event.
- Ask the Circuit or General Sessions clerk for the matching bond, dismissal, judgment, sentence, probation, revocation, or release order.
- Use TDOC FOIL for state felony custody or supervision, and the correct federal locator when the case belongs to BOP, ICE, or USMS.
A missing roster entry never proves release. It can also mean transfer, a data change, a new booking number, or the wrong jurisdiction.

TDOC Search for Henry Releases
The Tennessee Department of Correction's Felony Offender Information Lookup, called FOIL, covers current and former felony offenders in state custody or supervision. It may show a photo, status, location, offense, sentence facts, parole-hearing status, and release information. County-only bond and misdemeanor cases may never appear.

“Incarcerated” means state physical custody continues. “Parole” or “probation” indicates community supervision. “Inactive” supports that active TDOC custody or supervision ended, but it does not explain the whole release event. The exact future-date label on a live FOIL detail result was not verified, so it must not be guessed.

The search screen supports the identifier and name paths described above, but a result still needs a careful identity match and an agency record for close questions.
Henry County Release Court Records
Henry County's trial-court web route was not usable on the research date. The Circuit and General Sessions clerk's phone line is therefore essential for local dockets, dispositions, bond orders, sentences, release orders, and expungement orders. General Sessions often handles misdemeanors and early felony proceedings; Circuit or Criminal Court handles felony cases after bind-over or indictment. Ask the clerk to identify the correct division.
Tennessee's Public Case History covers appellate matters filed after its stated start date and updates through the prior business day. It is useful for appeals, not as a complete Henry County trial index.
An empty appellate result says nothing conclusive about the local booking, trial case, or release.
Henry County Release Supervision
The TDOC field office directory places Benton and Henry Counties with District 61's Paris office at 1188 North Market Street, Suite B. It is the local reporting route for state parole and many felony probation cases. Parole is a Board decision allowing community release before sentence expiration. Probation comes from the sentencing court and can replace or follow confinement.
A parole grant alone does not prove release. The release plan must be approved, a certificate prepared, and the institution must record the actual event. FOIL status, the Board's final action, and the TDOC Release Authorization form the stronger chain.
Henry County Release Programs
The county jail documents education through the Adult Education Center, jail ministry, Carl Perkins Center parenting classes, and a Work House Program. A regional Community Corrections provider also serves Henry County. These are program and routing facts, not proof that one person was released or eligible for a service. The current post-release reporting route remains TDOC's Paris office when state supervision applies.
Henry County State Release Property
For a former state prisoner, TDOC Policy 511.03 gives another concrete record. Its Release Authorization addresses property, funds, clothing, identification, photo verification, release instructions, sentence dates, and the gate event. A public portion can help verify an institutional release or correct an error. It does not establish Henry County jail property procedures, which were not published.
The request should identify the former prisoner by full name and TDOC number when known, then ask for the public portion of the CR-1947 Release Authorization. “Date of Release” and “Released To” answer different questions. One records the event date, while the other gives destination context. Protected medical, victim, security, address, or supervision details may be redacted.
Henry County Release Notifications
TN SAVIN uses VINELink and telephone channels for county release, transfer, and escape events. All Tennessee sheriffs participate, and TDOC joined the system in 2021. Search the person, confirm the feeding agency, and read the event. A notification can lag and is not a certified release record. Exact timing or destination should be checked with the jail or TDOC.
Federal custody follows different rules. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal prisoners from 1982 onward and can show a past release date with a released or no-facility location. That proves BOP custody ended, not that every hold ended. ICE ODLS includes current detainees and some people released within about 60 days. The U.S. Marshals Service has no comparable public historic locator. No BOP prison, ICE detention center, or USMS facility was verified in Henry County.

Released people normally fall off a current-custody roster. That is why the release record, former-offender search, court disposition, and receiving-agency trail matter more than a present-custody list.
Henry County Release Facility
The Henry County Correctional Facility is the only confirmed adult detention facility in the county. It holds local pretrial and sentenced people and can hold TDOC backup prisoners. Community release, county sentence completion, and transfers should be documented in its booking-and-release record.
Municipal police in Paris, Henry, Puryear, and Cottage Grove are arresting or routing agencies, not separately verified adult jails with release archives. Northwest Correctional Complex is in Lake County. TDOC prisons, BOP institutions, and ICE detention sites are outside the Henry County facility list and must be checked through their own systems.
